Is weekly therapy just not cutting it?
You might be someone who:
Has been meaning to start therapy but it feels impossible to fit another weekly commitment into your calendar.
Tried weekly therapy and felt stalled out.
Needs the extra space and unhurried time to really get into things.
Prefers to go deep in your conversations. So an extended session like an intensive just feels like a better fit for you.
Weekly, long-term therapy doesn’t work for everyone. Sometimes we need a different approach.
You’re in the right place.
An LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy Intensive is about the same time as five weekly sessions, without stopping and starting each week or spending the first part of every session catching up or finding our focus.
That uninterrupted time is where deeper work can happen.
LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy Intensives Can Help With:
The stress and trauma of anti-trans legislation, societal hate, and your rights being politicized.
Feeling invisible in your bi identity.
The hurt, disappointment, and anger you feel being around your conservative/MAGA family.
The burnout you feel from always being the “strong one” who no one worries about in your family, your friendships, and at work.
Hi I’m Dr. Jenna Brownfield (she/her)
I’m a queer/bi licensed psychologist, and I’ve been providing queer- and gender-affirming therapy for over 10 years. I’ve published research on bisexual mental health and facilitated community programming on trans allyship, so you won’t spend your time explaining the basics of gender or sexuality in our sessions. I love partnering with queer and trans adults (18+) to understand and celebrate their whole selves.
It’s all too common for us as LGBTQ+ folks to doubt ourselves or face mental health struggles. I believe in a future in which every queer and trans person is cherished, protected, and thriving.
Together we can help you clearly sense that your identities and your being are valuable. That’s why I honor what LGBTQ+ people know to be true: Queer and trans folks are powerful, resilient, and joyful. You deserve a therapist who gets that.
What is an intensive?
A brief model of therapy that lasts just one month. We use an extended session to get you the kind of progress that usually takes several months to reach in traditional, weekly therapy. It’s a more in depth model of therapy to help you feel better and save time. Here’s our format:
Intake Session
A 50-minute introductory session 1-2 weeks before your intensive. We’ll get to know each other and prepare for your intensive session.
Intensive Session
A 3-hour session using Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). We work together to deeply focus on what you need and help you stretch yourself. All at doable pace, with me alongside you.
Integration Session
A 50-minute session, 1-2 weeks after your intensive. We’ll meet to reflect on the progress you made, and I’ll share personalized recommendations (therapy referrals, community resources, etc.) to keep your progress going.
Want ongoing support too? You can have both.
Some people start with an intensive to get unstuck fast, then continue with weekly sessions with me (pending availability). Others are already in weekly therapy with me and add an intensive at a discounted rate when they want to go deeper.
Already have a therapist you love? Keep them. An intensive can work alongside the work you’re already doing. I’ll also contact your therapist, only with your permission of course, so you don’t have to use your next regular therapy session catching them up. I’ll reach out to them before and after your intensive to let them know our plan and how it went.
Are you ready to try a different approach to therapy?

Intensives are $1697. Here’s what you’re getting:
50-minute introductory session
3-hour intensive session
50-minute integration session
Personalized recommendations on next steps and resources to continue your progress.
All this is facilitated by a LGBTQ+ specialized therapist with the kind of focused time that weekly therapy rarely allows. This means you’re not taking weeks to settle in or translate LGBTQ+ 101 before we get to the real stuff.
Using your insurance: I’m out-of-network, but many PPO plans reimburse part of the cost and I’ll give you a superbill to submit. To check, log in to your insurance portal online to look up your out-of-network reimbursement for outpatient psychotherapy. Or call the number on your insurance card to ask them directly. You can also pay with HSA or FSA funds.
A 50% deposit at the time of scheduling holds your intensive date.

Life happens. If you need to reschedule, you can just let me know as soon as you can.
Your 50% deposit is nonrefundable, but it doesn't disappear. With at least 24 hours' notice, you can use it within 6 months of paying it, either toward a rescheduled intensive or toward weekly therapy sessions (if I have openings). For example, a deposit paid January 1 can be used through July 1.
Cancellations or reschedules with less than 24 hours' notice, and no-shows, are charged in full and can't be transferred.
